2017 Alpine Road

In 2017, I took a short road trip through Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. The journey lasted about two weeks and became one of those routes where the main impression is not the cities, but the road itself.
What I remember most is Austria. Today, it's Austria that holds the strongest memories from that trip: green hills, tidy villages, and endless Alpine views.
For the first time, I took watercolors with me on a journey — just two tubes of paint. Later, those very colors noticeably influenced the palette of my watercolor works. Sometimes artistic discoveries happen in the most unexpected ways.
Working on the road proved to be not so simple. I had to find time, a place, and the opportunity to focus. Most often, I painted in the mornings before breakfast.
Only a few watercolors were completed during the trip — mostly landscapes inspired by the Alpine scenery. I took many photographs and made sketches, trying to capture not so much the specific places as the feeling of space and light.
Today, I cannot recall all the stops along the route in detail. But I remember the scenic road vividly — the changing landscapes and weather. If I had to choose one image to represent this journey, it would be an Alpine landscape: mountains, green slopes, and a road stretching into the distance.
